Project - 3 Research Cocoon

With the design principles, formal organization and variation to design ideas we need to design a research cocoon which located at Taman Botanical Negara, Shah Alam to carry out a observation studies.

Here is my site analysis :

Stage 1:

  • As malaysia is located near the equator, it allows for the location to receive more sunshine.

  • The site receives at around 7.13a.m.

  • Natural shelter , sufficient hill and amount of sunlight.

  • A clear direction with board sign.

  • Plants provides shades for 70% of the site.

  • It was 1.7km from entrance to the Tamn Konservasi Herbs&Ubatan.

  • Lake give a sense of tranquility.

  • Shady, windy , served as educational site , cooking and breeze.

Stage 2 :

I choose an element of plumeria rubia another term is frangipani.

  • Growing only to about 5-6m in height.

  • Branches have a swollen appearance.

I try to focus on the part of the leaves of plumeria. Extract the idea of vein and mid rib in the model roofting . The mid rib as the column of the roof and the veins is the slanted part of the roof.

Stage 3 : Design proposal

Researcher activities

Here is my researcher which is Mr. Luew. He is focus on an experiment of plumeria fragrance. He will carry out his experiment on second floor and will take good care on the plantation of plumeria.

Fill in the space with furniture by using the same language to accommodate the activities. Explore simple but creative and practical solutions that are functional .
