WEEK 2 MINIMALISM

In Week 2 , we were given a task to practice which is shot 5 photo of minimalism in monochrome. After class, me and my course mate went around the campus to take photo.

This is my first time to use DSLR so i have struggle a lot of manual settings.

Minimalism is a style that uses pared-down design elements. The pictures was simple and to focus solely on one particular subject, rather than overwhelm the viewer with tons of color and pattern and information.

I took this photo at school near the Truffles . The light colour of the leaf made a contrast with the dark colour background. The texture on the floor can be seen clearly especially under the sun . The distance of each wood is in the same length so the arrangement of background was in order.

I took this photo at the toilet . I use my camera focus on the window which slightly have a pattern on it but overall the simplicity was very nice. The background was very dark to show the main subject is the window. This photo gives me mysterious feeling that want to go near the window and see what is outside the window.

This photo was taken at the corridor of my apartment . Look through the window you can saw the arrangement of the window of opposite block was arranged nicely and in horizontally .

From the near to the far the light was dark to bright. I was not even notice it before that .

I take this picture of the ceiling of my toilet. The lines with the sharp edges is the door of toilet.It look like a zig- zag shape on the right and the composition looks nice in this photo.

The ceiling was very clean and in white colour .

The whole composition of the line is very nice. The lines was in order show me the space is in simplicity. Although there are imperfections in this photo but overall of this photo was in simplicity in their own way .

This photo i just shot it from a lower angle while i was waiting for my food. Then i saw the nice composition of the building that looks simplicity by the left and right side of the building was in balancing . There are some windows which have bright lights come out which make a contrast between the building and window.

Actually this is the side view of the board . I like this photo have different thin and thick lines . The board was outstanding in this picture and you can saw the slightly of shadow of the board reflects on the wall . It was very interesting while the shadow reflect on the wall.

This subject was a water dispenser . I found that the gap between every lines was the same. The line was created from long to short and you will found out two shapes which is triangle and square. I like it because the arrangement was in orderly. The background was very dark and have a small light bulb reflects on the water dispenser.

Overall , in this practice i found out minimalism simply allows you to make these decisions more consciously, more deliberately. Taking minimalism is harder than i think because i hardly decide a subject to shot it and will easily distract by other complicated shapes and texture . After I have do my research , i found out the simplicity of the picture makes me feel comfortable but meaningful . I will practice more my photography skills to get better understanding on what lecture teach .
